Dog Breed Report – Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen

This information is from Dog Fancy Magazine (October 2010)

Remember that the best way to find pure bred dogs is to go to their rescue groups (  Second best is to find holistic breeders – Natural Canines is one great one.

“Enduring cheerfulness and ability to bring out the best in people…” I am already sold on this breed, which I have never treated.  They originally hunted small game in France. Life span is 12 – 16 years and weight is 25-40 pounds.  They have “rare occurrences of low thyroid, eye problems, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, patellar luxation and some sensitivity to vaccines. ” It is wonderful that Dog Fancy Magazine is reporting on vaccine sensitivities.
