Dr. Schultz has done more over the years to stop the pletehora of vaccines than any one other person (Dr. Dodds a close second). He is wonderful and I strongly suggest you register for this seminar. Click on comments below to make your comments on vaccines and any problems you have had because of vaccinated or because of not vaccinating.
Join us on Thursday, September 8 for this information-packed webcast.
Saving Lives With Antibody Titer Tests
Leading vaccine researcher Dr. Ronald Schultz doesn’t want to see any more shelter pets die just because they’ve been exposed to a deadly infectious disease. That’s why he offered a shelter a chance to make a different choice during their next outbreak, allowing them to save the lives of 17 dogs.
How did they do it? With the use of a simple in-house antibody titer test that revealed which pets had an immunity to the disease. Please join Maddie’s Fund® and Maddie’s® Institute for a free webcast with Ronald Schultz, MS, PhD, ACVM, on “Saving Lives With Antibody Titer Tests” on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central/7 PM Mountain/6 PM Pacific.
The session will include an opportunity to ask a limited number of questions.
- What an antibody titer test measures
- What “immunity” to common canine and feline illnesses means
- What antibody titers are dependent on
- How to read/interpret an antibody titer
- The different kinds of immunity, and what they mean
- How we know titer tests work
- For which diseases titer tests are useful – and for which they aren’t
- The research behind the TiterCHEK and VacciCheck on-site tests
- Recommended core canine and feline vaccines
- How to use antibody titer testing to prevent or reduce an outbreak of disease in a shelter
- Antibody titer testing for companion animals
“Saving Lives With Antibody Titer Tests” is the first in a series of educational programs from Maddie’s® Institute, a program of Maddie’s Fund®, the nation’s leading funder of shelter medicine education. Maddie’s® Institute brings cutting edge shelter medicine information from universities and animal welfare leaders to shelter veterinarians, managers and staff as well as private practice veterinarians, rescue groups and community members to increase lifesaving of homeless dogs and cats community-wide.
If you have questions, please contact Dr. Laurie Peek, Maddie’s Fund Director of Veterinary Programs, at peek@maddiesfund.org.
This program was reviewed and approved by the AAVSB RACE program for 1 hour of continuing education in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB RACE approval. My pug puppy (now 3.5 years old) was not vaccinated* except for one rabies shot at 6 months. She became hypersensitive to noise and has been more aggressive/domineering since then in spite of homeopathic treatment. About two days after the injection a swelling appeared at the site, which persisted for several weeks in spite of treatment with homeopathy as well as an external treatment (“Sting Stop”). Our homeopathic vet is Dr Ed Sheaffer of Clark Vet. Clinic (PA).
* She was given the individual nosodes (one course at a time) for common diseases such as distemper, parvovirus, and hepatitis.

Kudos to you for re-thinking the vaccine requirements. There were many other approaches you could have used other than prednisone, which can cause major side effects) to reverse the vaccine reaction Be sure to learn Reiki, which may have helped.
My wish is that everyone begins to ask serious questions about any “routine” suggestions from their veterinarian, even a holistic one. Many give heartworm “preventative” without even knowing the life cycle of the heartworm/mosquito/dog. Many do not think that our mammal companions need the same quality we get (humans do not get yearly vaccines except for flu; the best diet for humans is not canned or packaged foods; we try to avoid putting chemicals on our skin; etc).
Understanding the basic prinicples of health and healing can help you make more informed decisions. The wonderful Debra Bruck is hosting me on a weekly radio show – thursdays from 1-1:30 eastern time – http://www.blogtalkradio.com/homeopathyworldcommunity/2011/10/20/dr-chambreau-dvm-holistic-pet-health-and-homeopathy
This week, November 3, I will be talking about these principles.
My Bichon received vaccines 2 years in a row and both times had reactions . His eye became red and swollen and he began scratching his body like crazy . He does not receive any vaccines anymore except the rabbie which is required by law. I believe this triggered his allergies which i battle now on a daily basis.
Thank goodness you have stopped the vaccines, Mary. Many people do the only thing conventional veterinarians can offer – pretreat with steroids. This can cause even more serious disease. The allergies you are battling – if they are skin problems you are very lucky. When dogs have skin problems it means their vital force/vibrational pattern is strong enough to push the imbalance to the outside of the body, rather than causing more internal, serious ailments. Now, if your Bichon has asthma as a result of the vaccines, that would not be as healthy a vital force. I have a few pages on this in my Healthy Animal’s Journal, and Don Hamilton has 2 chapters about how the body gets ill and how it heals in Homeopathic Care of Cats and Dogs.
Now, rather than “battling the allergies on a daily basis” find a great homeopathic veterinarian or super trained chinese medicine veterinarian to resolve the damage at a deep level so the symptoms will be banished forever.
Mary – We had the same thing happen to one of our dogs. Check with a natural vet; you’ll be amazed at what can be done to help and also find out if your state allows for a vaccine exemption waiver. It’s for any animal/person who has a health problem and means your dog will never again have to get another rabies vaccine either. Giving more of any vaccine will only worsen the condition. God bless you!
Every dog we owned in the past had health problems – all from vaccinations they received. Once we learned the facts on vaccines and nutrition, we stopped vaccinating our dogs and feed them only a raw meaty bones diet. The dogs have amazing health and also live much longer. We know a gal who also raises her dogs naturally and she has a 25 year old male. We feel guilty for what we did to our beloved dogs; we were foolish and trusted our conventional vet. One of the worst results was our little Terrier female who developed severe allergies after vaccination and also became frightened of everything after her rabies shot. NEVER again. We have got to stop trusting the conventional medical community – for animals and people. They are wrong about drugs, chemicals and vaccines. They have no education on the true foundation of health – good, proper nutrition. Thank God for the new natural doctors and vets who don’t peddle death and disease to their patients.
Please do not every feel guilty. Some animals thrive on the conventional approaches, though I certainly do not recommend them. I recently traveled with a friend whose cat lived to 27 with regular (maybe not annual) vaccines and dry food. He is now going to try to switch off dry to canned and raw for his current 14 year old male. You were doing the very best you knew, so your dogs harbor no ill will and you did not build negative karma. Please forgive yourself.
25 = that is great – what breed? I want to figure out how to have a longevity section on my site so everyone can post there.
there are more and more holistic veterinarians yet you also need to be careful and not believe everything they say. You live with your pet – you know what is working and what is not. Check out my handout on selecting and working with a holistic vet and also think about keeping a journal so you can be in charge of evaluating their responses to what you and your professionals do.
Not giving a Rabies vaccine can be fraught with danger as well, for you could face the death or quarantine of your pet if he bites or is bit. There are ways to minimize the risk, and working with some holistic vets who think the way you do can get you the needed documents with little risk.
Please keep learning and educating others as you are doing. New – use harnesses, not collars – says dr. Peter Dobias.
